Talking
Drums
is a collection of my poetry.
Through
my poems, I tell stories of my past half century of
experiences.

Here are some
of my own favorites.
I Never
Expected to See You Here God
I never expected to meet you here, God
You really pulled this one on me
This place is dirty and down right filthy
It really smells and makes me sick.
Right now I feel rotten and I feel weak
I never expected to see you here, God.
I never thought you'd be here God
This place is so crowded.
I guess this is the worse place you ever saw
But it's so nice that you came though,
I never expected to meet you here, God.

The
Belly of the City
No need to speculate on the causes
Neglect exposes the corridors of the mind
No wonder crude images prevail with no accuracy about the poor
The homeless with no responsibility
Government supper, private food, drink, and shelter
Never a responsibility to either the giver or the receiver
Is this the nature of man, his built, of freedom and of God?
Without a theory that transforms; we give and receive in vain
To transform them into nameless nomads
In the belly of the city

Contentment
Does it have something to do with what I do?
Or rather with being happy with what I do?
Does it have something to do with my dreams?
Or perhaps with being open
Maybe giving or perhaps sharing those dreams as my token.
Does it have to do with understanding?
Or maybe it is being mysterious?
Do you see what I mean?
Do you hear what I hear?
I am what I am.
I am glad to be what I am,
But do you see what I mean?
I wish I could tell you
I wish I could make you realize
Or describe to you how content I really am.
